The History of the Settlers Club

When it comes to Hotels Mildura is unusual, having only two established pubs. Alongside them are three Members Clubs which have had a colorful history since they were founded in the late 1800’s. Today we find out about The Settlers Club from recent owner, renovator and historian Steve Timmis. We’ll hear how the club was formed and how documents that have been kept safe for over 100 years give us an insight into how the Club was run.

  1. Very interesting however if possible a more recent history could be told. Maybe from the 1950’s until the demise of the club. As a past member this would be much appreciated.

  2. My father was a brick layer when the Settlers refurbishments were being done, he was delegated to do the chimneys and ornate brick work around the fireplaces. He told me that the front entrance facade was cast into a wooden mould. It was filled with concrete and left to dry overnight. Next morning they found that vandals had tipped the mould and cement over and it had to done again.. The mould came from Denmark as the contract builder was Danish
