Great post, thanks for sharing the tour highlights!
The Mildura Club has been far more than just a prominent landmark on the Deakin Ave & 9th St corner since 1920 (and the club itself dating back to the late 1880s). As a classic gentlemen’s club in the British tradition, it served as a key networking hub for the town’s leading men business leaders, irrigators, professionals, and pioneers who shaped Sunraysia’s development through agriculture, infrastructure, and community decisions.
Places like this quietly influenced local progress, from river-based settlement and irrigation schemes to civic matters. Paired with the strong local media presence (think journalists and outlets like John Dooley’s work keeping the community informed and connected), these institutions helped build Mildura’s identity, economy, and social fabric over generations.
Fascinating to see the history preserved inside – well worth a visit for anyone wanting a deeper look at how our region was built. Cheers to Ross Lanyon, John Dooley, and the Frames of History team for the tour!
