Christmas time in Sunraysia has a special feel to it. Back in 1969 this film clip was made to highlight this season, with families celebrating in their own unique way. Some have set up camp after their journey, while others enjoy the river and some skiing. We see a family arrive to visit their grandparents, as well as a number of the churches that will hold services on Christmas Day. Being a great holiday destination we see a number of the Motels around Mildura.
Then right at the end we see a brief shot of the corner of 15th St and Deakin Ave with the X-Roads Drive in in the background. This would soon be developed into a caravan park to help accommodate growing tourism. Some of you may recognise the group who meet their grandparents. It’s the Nankivell family meeting Mr & Mrs Cleland.
