Familiar scenes in STV 8 News footage taken from around 1970. The annual Carnival held at Mildura Ski Club each Easter, provided great entertainment for the large crowds of spectators who lined the bank across the holiday weekend. This event was the forerunner to the Mildura 100 – the fastest ski race in the world.
Cameraman Kent Smith captured a lot of faces in this clip and so if you see someone that you know, please let us know in the comments. If you look closely you’ll also see George Winton’s boat the Rakawi along with Alby Pointon’s PS Melbourne.
