Here are two STV 8 news stories that relate to Langtree Ave. In the first clip we see a representative from the Gold Coast Council, showing Jerry Cornell and Peter Knight from the Mildura Chamber of Commerce some ideas on street decorations. Take a look at the photos in his album and you’ll see some very familiar images.
In the second clip we see the Mildura Tech Brass Band with popular teacher and band leader Len Krause out front. They’re performing in Langtree Ave where you’ll see some of those Christmas decorations in place. This was at a time when planter boxes were positioned to block off traffic which was the first step towards the street becoming a permanent Mall. Look closely and you’ll see many store names in the background that we’re all familiar with.
