Here’s a collection of News footage shot about 1970 that takes us to a number of familiar locations around town. Firstly to the Mildura Wharf, where Cpt Pointon can be seen ushering passengers aboard the PS Melbourne. The cost for an adult at that time was only $2.50. Next we take a quick drive past the historical display opposite Rio Vista and then on for a wander past some shops in town. The next clip taken shortly before Christmas shows the Santa art drawing competition on Maples windows, where elves seem to be the focus. Finally we see that the river level is very high when we visit the site of Sculpture Scape below the cliffs near Rio Vista. Taking note of some of the damage, is Arts Centre director at the time Tom McCullough who by the way recently turned 90!
