As soon as transmission commenced, STV 8 presented a local news coverage five nights a week and here’s several short clips from the 1970’s of newsworthy events. Firstly we see Mayor Cr Ken Wright and an official take a river trip on George Winton’s “Rakawi” and then see a piece of sculpture being added to the Rio Vista lawns. We check out an unusual train, which kept the weeds from the railway tracks across the State and then watch a very short piece of footage as some work is carried out on the Rothbury. Finally we take a look at the result of a burglary at Hammerton’s the Jewellers.
