The STV8 tape archives contain many reels of Sporting History. Discovered recently were three clips from Harness Racing events around the district in 1986 held at Wentworth, Ouyen and of course at No1 Oval in Mildura. In the first segment from a meeting at Wentworth, you’ll hear the golden tones of Max Thorburn calling the race. Horse racing was one of Max’s passions and it’s great to hear him in action again.
The other two segments were obviously kept on file as they contain falls. After some investigation we’re pleased to report that nobody was seriously injured in the nasty looking fall at Ouyen.
