Here’s some fun news clips from STV 8 back in the 70’s featuring the famous Mini Minor. In the first clip we see Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs outside Syd Mills Motors in 8th Street. A number of Minis along with a bigger Austin 1800 were used to move the cast of a touring Stage Show around and quite a few kids had turned up to meet the stars.
In the second clip, a group of students and teachers attempted a World Record of carrying a Mini a distance of 600 yards around town. Not sure what was happening on the corner of Langtree Ave and 9th Street but it appeared as though the car was a lot heavier than anticipated. In any case let’s hope they broke the record !
