Boat Naming Ceremony

Here’s a short clip from the Cr. SC Mills collection of 16mm films taken in the 1950’s. We witness a Naming Ceremony being conducted at Mildura Rowing Club for a number of the boats or skulls. As is tradition with all boats, champagne is splashed across the bow. A couple of item to look out for in this clip are the sign for the “Kiosk Alaska” on the roof of the Club and the stylish reefer jackets worn by some of the team members.
