Bridge Work

STV8 archive News footage from 1971 presents a couple of stories set near the Mildura Bridge. In the first story, traffic is held up a while as new planks are installed in the bridge approach. Then a little further down stream, a local boat maker gets into trouble when the low-loader delivering a new house boat for launching becomes bogged. We’ll leave the pictures to tell the story of the ingenious methods used to distract the trailer.

The boat launch is at Baldwins boat yard. We had both our houseboats up on drums there while we did biyearly servicing. Met a lot of wonderful folk including the new owners of the “JeanieD.
